Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) 
Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times 
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs 
Identify welding supervision job requirements from specifications, drawings, job sheets or work instructions 
Review welding requirements and relevant standards and codes and determine if a new WPS or previously approved WPS is required 
Develop weld procedure specifications in accordance with SOPs 
Plan variables and sequence checks against documentation 
Qualify WPS in accordance with relevant standards or codes 
Prepare documentation for record keeping 
Establish if welders are prequalified against WPS 
Train welders where required in relevant weld processes, parameters and SOPs 
Qualify welders in accordance with relevant WPS 
Ensure welder qualification reports are maintained against WPS 
Supervise welding operations including developing sampling and weld testing plans 
Monitor welding operations compliance with internal quality assurance plan 
Ensure traceability of materials is maintained 
Supervise welding operations for compliance with SOPs, prescribed specifications and safety procedures 
Verify and arrange for all welding equipment, welding instruments and test equipment to be calibrated and in date 
Arrange weld tests appropriate to weld procedure 
Verify non-destructive tests (NDTs) and/or destructive tests have been completed in accordance with job requirements and specifications and reports received 
Ensure records of qualified WPS and pre-qualifying welding procedures are kept 
Ensure welder qualification records are established and maintained 
Supervise weld traceability register including mapping against jobs and projects 
Ensure registers of NDT requests and reports are maintained 
Ensure record keeping activities are consistent with internal quality assurance plan
